Hawaii Care Choices has launched “Let’s Talk Healthcare Hawaii!” — a new TV talk show and podcast dedicated to palliative care education.
Hosted by Lani Weigert, the 30-minute show will air at 7 p.m. every Thursday and Sunday on Na Leo TV Channel 54. Each episode will also be available as a podcast to reach a wider audience.
This 12-episode series will run for an entire year, with new episodes airing monthly. The show is designed to engage viewers in important conversations around serious illness and its impact on individuals and families in East Hawaii.
Topics covered will include understanding the difference between palliative care and hospice care, how to qualify for services, and available health care resources.
Episodes feature expert guest speakers such as Dr. Lynda Dolan, who will discuss the benefits of palliative care and how it can improve the quality of life for patients and their families. Later episodes will touch on community resources that are available to patients and caregivers of East Hawaii.
Each episode will feature real-life testimonials from patients and their families who have experienced the positive impact of palliative care services.
“Our goal is to raise awareness of the benefits of palliative care and help individuals and families navigate the complex health care system,” Weigert said in a press release.
